Sobre Ian D MacLeod – Ian is the Executive Director of the Western Australian Museums in Fremantle and has been solving deterioration problems with shipwreck artefacts since 1978 when he joined the museum’s Department of Materials Conservation. He is passionately interested in the decay of glass, ceramics, wood and metals and was a Senior Fulbright Fellow in 1993 that allowed him to sneak into Canada and do his corrosion measurements on the wrecks in Tobermory Bay in Lake Huron. He has been a metals working group coordinator for ICOM-CC for several terms, a member of the ICOM-CC Directory Board for two terms and a Pre-prints committee member for several Triennial meetings. He has seen studied shipwrecks in Canada, Scotland, Finland, USA and in the Federated States of Micronesia. He is a member Royal Society of Chemistry, a Chartered Chemist, a Fellow of International Institute for Conservation of Artistic and Historic Works, a Fellow of the Royal Australian Chemical Institute, Fellow of the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering, Fellow of the Society of Antiquaries of Scotland.
