BIOS
BOTAN T. MAGHDID
He is Associate Professor of Ancient History at Soran University, specializing in Ancient Middle Eastern history and the politics of historiography. He earned his PhD from the University of Leicester (UK) in 2018, where his doctoral research analysed the structural influence of 20th-century political ideologies on Iraqi state historical narratives. With nearly two decades of combined academic and administrative leadership experience within the Higher Education sector of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI), his research critically examines the intersections of historical archaeology, identity formation and collective memory. He is the core coordinator for TRANSITION project on the “Existing Curricula Assessment in Cultural Heritage and Minority on KRI and Yemen” (2025).
ANA CARVALHO
Museologist and researcher at CIDEHUS, University of Évora (Portugal), where she works on museums and cultural heritage. She trained in museology and holds a PhD in the field. Her work focuses on how museums and heritage relate to society and public policies. She is co-founder and editor-in-chief of MIDAS – Museums and Interdisciplinary Studies (“Museus e Estudos Interdisciplinares”) and hosts the award-winning blog “No Mundo dos Museus”, dedicated to making museum topics accessible to wider audiences. Her work has received several awards from the Portuguese Association of Museology. She is also a researcher at the UNESCO Chair in Intangible Heritage and coordinates the research group “Heritage(s) and Literacies” at CIDEHUS.
